They cannot help their odd location, and are making the best of it. I walked from Union Station which was a little bit weird because of the landscape of Ikea, New Haven USPS headquarters, highway overpasses. To go downtown, I took advantage of the e-shuttle and also the water-side pathways for running which are right out the front door. A Lyft car from downtown back the hotel was only ~$11. I didn't try the food, but I stopped by the bar for a post-run beer and later for a nightcap. The atmosphere was congenial especially because of a highly professional and personable bartender. Comfortable bed, sleek design in the rooms.

The room was clean and modern. There is a touchpad as you enter the room that controls the blinds, lights, and temperate of the room. Small details are what count sometimes, and having a bottle of liquid hand soap in the bathroom was a nice touch.

It’s a thrill to stay in a landmark. Modern design matches the outstanding architecture by marcel Breuer. Very helpful front office lady.

It's not much to look at from the outside, but once you step inside it's like being in a cool European hotel. The rooms are well designed, the lobby is spacious, and the front desk staff are very friendly. The hotel also has new technology that allows you to control the lights, the blinds and the temperature in the room. It's a little more expensive than other nearby hotels, but it's worth it.

The staff were excellent. They took a lot of pride in their hotel and in their ability to help their guests. We felt welcome and cared for at the Hotel Marcel.
